Dr. Curtis Schenk and Cortney Barrett, nurse practitioner, seeing new patients
Patients in Watonga can see a familiar name in a familiar place for primary care, but the experience will be brand-new.
Dr. Curtis Schenk, who recently joined Mercy, is returning to the office where he saw patients while in private practice. The newly renovated and renamed Mercy Clinic Primary Care – Watonga N. Clarence Nash officially opened Tuesday with a special blessing and ceremony. The blessing included scripture reading, prayer and sprinkled holy water.
Cortney Barrett, a certified nurse practitioner, is also seeing new patients along with Dr. Schenk at the clinic, located at 407 N. Clarence Nash Blvd.
Since moving to Mercy, Dr. Schenk had been practicing at Mercy’s other Watonga primary care clinic while the building on Clarence Nash was being renovated.
“We’re both excited to be in this beautiful new space, and we think our patients will love it,” said Dr. Schenk. “Patients who have known me a long time will enjoy the fresh look at a place they know well, and new patients will walk in and know they’re in a state-of-the-art primary care facility in Watonga.”
Both providers are seeing patients of all ages at the clinic. They perform general medical evaluations, annual exams, treatments for minor illnesses and injuries, school and occupational exams and more.
Dr. Schenk has practiced medicine for 47 years, all of them in Watonga. He’s a family medicine specialist who graduated from the University of Oklahoma’s medical school.
Barrett is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who earned a master’s at Chamberlain University.
