Tamara Cain, attorney with Cain, Cain & Janik, Estate Planners for Life™, recently served as a presenter at the 77th Semi-Annual Collegium of the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys, held March 10–13, 2026, in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
The Collegium brings together estate planning attorneys from across the United States to exchange ideas, explore emerging trends, and advance best practices in estate and trust planning.
During her presentation, Cain addressed the importance of families thoughtfully transferring wealth to the next generation while recognizing the distinction between material wealth and non-material wealth—the stories, traditions, and values that shape a family’s legacy.
Cain shared insights from a program she developed called the Estate Planners for Life™ Legacy Series, a nine-part set of guided workshops offered to clients and community members. The workshops are designed to help families preserve the stories, traditions, and values that matter most while celebrating the experiences that define their lives.
Participants in the series create a personal keepsake that gathers family memories, recipes, milestones, rituals, and traditions. The completed work becomes a companion to their legal estate planning documents. It offers future generations not only financial guidance but a meaningful record of their family’s history and wisdom.
“Estate planning is about more than transferring assets,” Cain said. “It is also about preserving the heart of a family—the lessons learned, the traditions shared, and the values we hope will guide the next generation.”
Cain is a partner with Cain, Cain & Janik, PLLC, an estate planning law firm dedicated to helping families protect their assets, plan wisely for the future, and preserve their legacy through its Estate Planners for Life™ approach.
